Starting a chat

Look someone up by their exact handle, or send them an invite. Every chat is end-to-end encrypted from the first message.

Keeping chats in order

  • Pin the chats you use most to the top.
  • Mute a chat for a while, or until you unmute it.
  • Archive a chat to move it out of the list without deleting it.
  • Search your chats and messages. Search runs on your computer.
  • Drafts stay in the box until you send them.
  • Previews can be turned off for a chat.

Blocking

Block someone and their messages are dropped unread, and you leave your one-to-one chat with them. To tell us about abuse, see reporting.

Links open in your normal browser, and only https:// links with plain host names open at all, so a link can't disguise where it goes.
